What inspires a collection is often a variety of things. In this case my new collection ‘Secret Garden’ is inspired by a series of paintings that I did of pansies many years ago. Certain flowers often evoke special memories for people. Pansies seem to always make people smile as they look like little faces and they brighten the cold winter months. I always plant them by our front door to brighten all those rather gray winter months. So these paintings form the inspiration for the collection, coupled with the book “Secret garden”, which was a favorite of mine as a child, as it tells the tale of a hidden idyllic garden that is tended back to life. The patterns Hedgerow and Trellis form echoes of an over grown but once loved garden that lies waiting ready to be rekindled.
